On May 19th, 2022, the Vietnam Dialysis Association cooperates with the Department of Nephrology – Dialysis at 103 Military Hospital to organize the scientific seminar: “Comprehensive dialysis patient care – Role of nursing and nutrition”. There are about 500 participants who are doctors, nurses working in the field of Kidney – Dialysis nationwide in both face-to-face and online via Zoom meeting platform.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Dung – MD. PhD. – President of Vietnam Dialysis Association and A/Prof. Le Viet Thang – MD. PhD. – Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Dialysis Association join the seminar as the chairman, along with presentations from 06 countries and international speakers. All topics have been focused on Nephrology – Dialysis such as: Covid 19 disease management for dialysis patients, nutrition for dialysis patients, the role of nurses in palliative care…

Regarding nutrition for dialysis patients, sharing at the program, Prof. Friede Inrijanto, – Head of the Department of Nephrology and Dialysis, Soeradji Tirtonegoro Hospital, Indonesia showed that protein-energy malnutrition with a frequency of up to 70% of dialysis patients is one of the strongest prognostic factors for survival, therefore nutritional care plays an extremely important role. Oral nutritional supplementation is always the preferred choice. In case of insufficient nutrition, health care workers should consider the indication of parenteral nutrition. In dialysis patients, IDPN will be applied.
