On May 14th, 2022, Otsuka Vietnam JSC cooperated with the Ho Chi Minh City society of parenteral and Enteral nutrition (HoSPEN) to organize a scientific seminar program “Nutritional therapy in chronic cirrhosis liver” : BCAA or BCAA+”. The program had the participation of medical staffs working in the field of Gastroenterology and Nutrition from hospitals nationwide
This scientific seminar had the participation A/Prof. Bui Huu Hoang – MD. PhD, Head of Gastroenterology Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, also the Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Hepatobiliary Association; Dr. Luu Ngan Tam – MD. PhD – Chairman of HoSPEN & Dr. Ho Tan Phat – SL2 – Head of Internal Medicine Department, Cho Ray Hospital. The reports aim to solve the problem of how to optimize the effectiveness of nutritional interventions in patients with cirrhosis, from theory to clinical practice. According to statistics, malnutrition occurs in over 80% of patients with decompensated cirrhosis, which is a factor directly related to the patient’s prognosis. In the nutritional composition for patients with cirrhosis, branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) play an important role with evidence demonstrating their effectiveness in improving nutritional status and prognosis for patients.
