Scientific congress: Nutrition in modern surgery and resuscitation: The journey of development and integration

On July 14th, 2025, Military Hospital 103 organized a scientific congress on the topic: “Nutrition in modern surgery and resuscitation: Journey of development and integration”. This scientific congress is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Department of Nutrition and towards the 75th anniversary of the tradition of Military Hospital 103. Colonel, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Ba Thang – Deputy Director of the Hospital was also present to chair the program.

Nowadays, the role of nutrition in the treatment of inpatients is increasingly emphasized, especially in critical care departments such as surgery and resuscitation. Military Hospital 103 is a teaching hospital of the Military Medical Academy, a grade I general hospital with a number of end-line specialties of the Army. The hospital has successfully applied many advanced techniques such as organ transplantation and major surgery to save lives and improve the quality of patients. The Department of Nutrition plays a role in accompanying clinical departments in examination and consultation to provide the most comprehensive treatment strategy for patients. Within the framework of the program, reporters on practical experience and updated clinical evidence in nutritional intervention for diseases such as major digestive surgery, kidney transplantation, lung transplantation, heart surgery, etc. are discussed by surgical and nutrition experts from many major hospitals in Hanoi. The program is a bridge to exchange and share professional experiences between medical staff inside and outside the Army, while improving the quality of treatment and care for patients.
